Yasontas Burton
Ms. Yasontas Burton brings more than thirty years of experience in education to John Hopkins Elementary and is proud to return to the school where she previously served as Assistant Principal for five years. Most recently, she led Lake Elementary as Principal beginning in 2021.
Ms. Burton began her career in West Palm Beach, Florida, as a kindergarten teacher before returning home to Jackson to join Lake Elementary. There, she served the school community for 14 years as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher, literacy coach, and interventionist. In 2014, she transitioned into school leadership, serving as Assistant Principal at Johnson Elementary for two years before continuing her administrative journey.
A proud graduate of Provine High School in the Jackson Public School District, Ms. Burton is dedicated to helping students reach their full academic potential while fostering a safe, supportive, and successful school culture for all.
